OUR STORY
Dedication and Service
It is incredible how one small idea can grow into something truly special. Our Duty is rooted in the belief that we all have an inherent responsibility to make a meaningful difference in our community. All three of us were greatly involved in the local community back in our own countries and had a common interest in volunteer work.
However, living in Japan we felt the difficulty in finding opportunities and felt the lack of ones in our community that international students can participate in just because of the language barrier. We believe that that would be a waste of their experience in Japan, and unfair to not be able to contribute to the community because of something that cannot be controlled.
With this, we saw it as a great chance for us to create change and seek volunteer work for students to participate in.
Our team is working to establish an organization that provides volunteer opportunities for international students who want to support the local community. Through this initiative, they will be able to take use of this platform to pursue their passions and interests and gain experiences.
Founded by three students in 2022, we have been proud to witness how our activities have benefitted the Karuizawa community and beyond. Want to take part? Contribute to our work by spreading awareness of this organization or volunteering today.

At Our Duty, we take pride in students who are not afraid to step out of their comfort zone. We believe that with courage, creativity and character, there is nothing we can’t accomplish. No matter how strong each individual is, we believe that above all, our strength lies in teamwork and cooperation. Each and every one of us has the ability to serve and contribute no matter their experience or background. With this strength behind us, just imagine what we can achieve together.
